Diagnosed with prediabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, Jennifer Winter realized she had to do something to live a longer and healthier life for her family. In 2019, she eased herself into better eating habits and started working out, and while that helped, it was when her Tonal arrived that the magic really happened.

Having Tonal at home has helped Jennifer dramatically improve her health, reverse her high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and prediabetes, and go from a self-professed couch potato to the strongest and best version of herself.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I live outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. I’m a mom to twins who are almost 18 and will be heading off to college in the fall. I also have three grown stepdaughters. My husband and I own a pest control company that focuses mainly on bed bug extermination and hoarding cleanups.

I made small baby steps to ease myself into new eating habits, and within seven months lost 50lbs. Then my Tonal was delivered, and this is when the magic happened, I am in the best shape of my life.

Tell us about how you came across Tonal and why you decided to buy one.

Before Christmas of 2019, I started working out again and was looking at a Tonal competitor. My husband showed me a video of Tonal, and I just knew that it was the better choice. He bought it for me as an early Christmas present, and my Tonal was installed on January 1, 2020.

What was the first day like with Tonal?

My introductory session on Tonal was challenging because I hadn’t worked out at a gym in seven years. I quickly realized how out of shape I was!

Tell us about where you were at the start of your journey and where you are now.

I started my weight loss journey two years ago after seeing pictures of myself from our spring break trip in 2019. I needed to do something fast if I wanted to live a longer, healthier life for my family. I had tried so many diets in the past, and nothing ever worked. This time, I was determined that nothing was going to stop me.

I made small baby steps to ease myself into new eating habits, and within seven months lost 50lbs. Then my Tonal was delivered, and this is when the magic happened. Thanks to the past 15 months of being a Tonal owner, I am in the best shape of my life.

My doctor is genuinely amazed by my weight loss, but also because I have completely reversed my high blood pressure, high cholesterol and I’m no longer pre-diabetic. I am 5’4″, and my starting weight was 231lbs and currently at 133lbs. I have never felt or looked stronger in my life.

How has being stronger impacted different areas of your life?

Being stronger has also improved my cardio, endurance, and speed. I am no longer tired all the time and have more energy than in my 20s. The best part is when people first meet me and notice how fit I am. They assume this is how I have always been and are taken back after hearing about my journey.

The biggest lesson that I have learned on my journey is that you are never too old or unhealthy to start making small changes every day.

What obstacles did you face on your journey, and how did Tonal help you overcome them?

Before Tonal, I was a couch potato and never thought I had time for exercise. Tonal has made me realize how much of my life has been wasted away staring at a phone and the television. If I can spend hours on end staring at electronics, I can make time for a 30-60 minute workout each day.

What is the biggest unexpected benefit you’ve received from having Tonal in your home?

With COVID-19, I’ve come to appreciate having amazing coaches and an all-in-one gym right inside my home. I love that I can work out in my PJ’s and barefoot.

What’s the one piece of advice or the biggest lesson you’ve learned during your transformation that you want to share with the rest of the community?

The biggest lesson that I have learned on my journey is that you are never too old or unhealthy to start making small changes every day. All those baby steps along the way will add up to massive results if you continue. My transformation did not happen overnight, and I will always be a work in progress. I am just striving to become the best version of myself.

What does it mean for you to be your strongest?

It means doing your best every day to impact your physical, mental, and emotional strength. For me, working out helps balance out all of these, and I feel stronger for every single day that I continue on my journey.
