  • A refurbished Tonal trainer is one that has previously been purchased and returned, such as part of our 30-day return period. Each refurbished Tonal trainer undergoes rigorous testing and inspection processes designed to restore it to a like-new state.

  • A dedicated team of refurbishment specialists examines each Tonal trainer return to confirm that it’s eligible for refurbishment, such as low usage with minimal cosmetic damage. Our rigorous refurbishment process includes visual inspection, functional testing, and replacement of defective and over-worn parts. The final refurbished product is inspected and thoroughly tested to meet our strict quality standards.

  • For the trainers that are eligible for the refurbishment process, there is a rigorous testing process they undergo before being offered for sale. Here’s a look at what goes into refurbishing a Tonal: 

    Step 1: In-Take Process: Upon receipt of a Tonal trainer return, a dedicated team of refurbishment specialists reviews the member’s feedback to understand the reason for the return (i.e., didn’t use it), and screens the trainer for any product-related issues or damage that would disqualify the trainer from the refurbishment program.

    Step 2: Manual Check
    A specialist then performs functional tests, which include manually checking motor performance, performing cable pulls, arm movements, inspecting the motor differential, cable wear and tear, etc. At this stage, we replace parts as needed to meet the factory quality standards of new Tonal trainers. We also verify that the trainer’s software is up-to-date.

    Step 3: Cosmetic Damage Replacement
    A quality inspector runs a detailed cosmetic check on the trainer to identify and correct unacceptable cosmetic damage.

    Step 4: Automated Functional Testing
    To confirm the quality of the refurbished trainer, we do over 35 different functional tests, including configuration, firmware, software, all mechanical functions, and cosmetic checks. We check all the angles of the arms to ensure that the arms are locking and unlocking in all the positions correctly. We also check the range of movement of each arm. We also verify the strength and integrity of the trainer by simulating continuous use with physical weights for approximately an hour. We test the motor and validate if the cable movement and tension will provide a smooth workout experience

    Step 5: Second Manual Inspection
    A quality inspector runs a second set of inspections, including cable checks and screenings for any remaining cleaning and wear-and-tear repairs.

    Step 6: Packaging
    The refurbished trainer unit is then packed in the same way as the brand-new Tonal trainer.

  • There should be no visible difference between the new and the refurbished trainer unit. A refurbished Tonal trainer is one that has previously been purchased, likely used to some degree and returned, such as part of the 30-day home trial program.

  • The warranty for refurbished units is the same as for new Tonal trainers units. We stand behind our refurbished trainers with a 2-year limited warranty.   • Refurbished trainers will have the same 30-day return policy as new units. We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If for any reason, you’re not satisfied, we are happy to accept a return of your Tonal within 30 days of installation and refund any amounts you’ve paid for the trainer, including installation and membership fees.

  • Yes, you can apply to Affirm to finance your purchase of a refurbished trainer; they offer 24, 36, or 48-month payment plans, subject to their eligibility criteria.

  • Our refurbished trainer is not eligible for any additional discounts at this time.

  • All accessories shipped with a Certified Refurbished Tonal trainer are brand new. At this time, refurbished accessories are not currently available.

  • Tonal requires professional installation and currently cannot be shipped or installed outside of the 50 United States. Unfortunately, we do not have a timeline on when we will expand beyond the U.S. Please let us know where you are located to stay updated!

  • Yes, Tonal is available for purchase in Hawaii and Alaska! To determine if you live in our coverage area in Hawaii and Alaska, of serviceable zip codes here.

  • For orders delivered to Hawaii and Alaska, there will be an additional $255 shipping fee. Tonal weighs nearly 150 pounds and needs to be professionally installed to ensure you can be your strongest with Tonal.

  • For an optimal workout experience, we recommend 7′ x 7′ floor space, 7’ unobstructed wall space, and a ceiling height of at least 7’10”. You may be able to modify movements if your space is smaller. For more information please refer to our space requirements.

  • Typically 1-3 weeks after your installation form is submitted to us, your Tonal is shipped directly to our installation partners. After that, they’ll work with you to schedule your installation. Installation takes less than an hour.

  • For your safety, it is important that Tonal is installed by our professional installers. In addition to delivering and mounting Tonal to your wall, our delivery partners will connect Tonal to WiFi, pair your Bluetooth Smart accessories, and get your account set up so you can start working out right away.

  • Yes, your Tonal can be reinstalled if you move! We have different relocation packages for you to choose from depending on your needs. We recommend purchasing your moving kit at least three weeks in advance so we can make sure you have everything you need ahead of time.
